to school, i have this long skinny scarf from old navy thats dark blue and lighter blue striped, would that look good with a brown top?
Yes! Brown and blue always coordinate fantastically. I myself prefer a warm, cinnamon brown with powder blue, but almost any combination of those two colors looks good together. But remember to choose a solid top with a printed/patterned scarf.

What is the name and where do you get those long scarfs they are no wider than 3″ but up to 12ft long and people wear them all year round they are not wool.
There is really no name for them besides scarf, but I have seen them on many online sites such as alloy and delias. They are usually under the accessories section. =)

My MIL went to Israel and Egypt last month and sent me a Pashmina shawl as well as a Tshirt. Well, I know how to take care of a Tshirt, but are there any special ways to care for a Pashmina?
The care instructions are in Hebrew and Arabic. It appears to be raw silk or a cotton/polyester blend, because it has a "shimmer" to it and the weave is very tight with short (3") fringe on each end.
It is one-ply (so it is a year-round Pashmina) and about six feet long X two feet wide. Any information you can give as to its care would be appreciated (BTW I have a front-loading washer with "handwash" cycle and delictates bags. Should I put it in a delicates bag and wash it the the handwash cycle and let it air dry?)
PS I forgot to mention I'm allergic to detergents. I use All Free and Clear…Will it likely cause damage if I can't use Woolite?
don't put it in the washer especailly if if could be silk. hand wash it with woolite and let it air dry laying out flat.
i know that will be hard because its so big. its not something that you have to wash too often which is good. i have a few pashminas and i love them, if you take good care of it it will last forever. also keep it out of direct sunlight when your storing it.

I am looking for silk in roving, top, or sliver form. In other words, it is silk fiber that has not been woven, knitted, or dyed. I would like to find a direct wholesaler from China, but how do I find one?
The Chinese has an embassy in washington D.C and possibly one in San Francisco. Why don't you try and contact them and see if they can furnish you with your request.The only other thing would be to check internet and just put in silk and see what comes up.
